Tired of Spinning Your Wheels on
Half-Formed Concepts?

Most screenplays don't begin as complete stories — they begin as a fragment.

…An intriguing "what if?"

…A fascinating character.

…An image you can't stop thinking about.

The challenge is knowing how to grow that spark of inspiration into a story that can support an entire screenplay.

Maybe you've been carrying around a movie idea for months... or even years... but you're not sure what to do with it.

Maybe you've started writing a screenplay only to get stuck halfway through because the story never quite came together.

Or maybe you're asking yourself: "Is there actually enough here for a movie?"

Before you spend months outlining, drafting, and rewriting a screenplay, let's make sure you're building on a story that's ready to be written.

Start Turning That Spark Into a Ready-to-Write Story

In this live workshop, you’ll learn how to:

  • Turn a tiny spark of inspiration into a compelling story premise.

  • Know whether your idea is strong enough to support a feature screenplay.

  • Brainstorm to expand your idea without watering it down.

  • Build a solid story foundation before writing page one.

  • Use a repeatable method for building story ideas you feel confident and excited about.

🎯🎯🎯
The 3-Step Process

In this workshop, we’ll walk through a practical, 3-part “idea expanding” process:

  1. Is there a story here?

Learn how to take a simple spark of inspiration and uncover the movie hiding inside it by identifying whose story you're telling and what they want.

  2. Will this story work as a screenplay?

Strengthen your concept by building it on four foundational story pillars that help determine whether your idea can sustain an entire feature film.

We'll also look at one of the biggest places screenplays stall out: the middle. You'll learn how to evaluate whether your story has enough momentum, conflict, and progression before you ever start outlining scenes.

  3. Is this a story worth writing?

Once you've developed your concept, you'll learn how to evaluate whether this version of the story is the one you truly want to spend months bringing to life.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have a practical process you can return to every time a new screenplay idea comes along.

This workshop is for you if…

  • You have a movie idea but aren't sure what to do with it.

  • You've started screenplays before but gotten stuck in the middle.

  • You have lots of ideas but struggle to develop them into complete stories.

  • You want a clearer process for developing screenplays before you begin writing.

  • You're tired of wondering whether an idea is "good enough."

  • You want more confidence before committing months to your next script.

Workshop Details:

Date: Sunday, August 9, 2026

Time: 9:00 AM Pacific / 12:00 PM Eastern
(Expect 60 minutes for the workshop itself + optional Q&A afterward)

Format: Live on Zoom
(But if you can't make it to the live workshop or just prefer to watch the presentation on your own time, don't worry — you'll receive the replay within 48 hours after the live session and have access to it forever.)

Plus...

Join me for a live implementation session on Sunday, August 16.

This is your chance to put everything you've learned into action. In this small-group working session, we'll apply the 3-step process directly to your own screenplay idea. I'll guide you through the process and spend time with each writer as you develop your concept.

Come with the spark of an idea. Leave with a stronger story concept, a solid story foundation, and the confidence to keep moving forward.

The implementation session is totally optional and is in addition to the workshop. Space is intentionally limited so every writer has dedicated time to workshop their project.

What Writers Are Saying

“Thank you again for putting this together, it was wonderful!!! I enjoyed it tremendously! And to be honest it gave me a boost of confidence (that was very needed at the moment lol). I had a lot of doubts on both of my stories and I feel like your workshop pointed me in the right direction. I’ve had a marvelous week because of that!! I can’t wait for the next one! Thank you again!”

Meet your instructor

Hi, I’m Naomi. For more than a decade, I've helped screenwriters, producers, and directors develop stories that are clear, compelling, and built on a solid foundation.

Earlier in my career, I worked on the development team at Maverick Films, where I contributed to projects including Twilight, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, and The Stanford Prison Experiment. I also collaborated with Blake Snyder on his second Save the Cat! book and later taught Save the Cat! workshops in Los Angeles.

One thing I've seen again and again is that writers rarely struggle because they lack imagination.

They struggle because they have an exciting idea but aren't sure how to grow it into a story that's ready to become a screenplay.

That's exactly what this workshop is designed to help you do.

💬
Common Questions

What if I don’t have a fully formed idea yet?
Perfect. This workshop helps you shape and strengthen early sparks. Whether it’s a “what if,” a character, or a true story — you’ll leave knowing whether it has story potential and how to grow it.

What if my idea already feels strong?
That’s great too. The process helps you pressure-test and refine your concept so you can write with more confidence and fewer stalls.

Will this help if I've already started writing my screenplay?
Absolutely. Many writers realize partway through drafting that something isn't quite working. This workshop can help you strengthen the foundation of the story you're already writing.

Will I learn something new if I've studied screenwriting before?
Yes. This workshop isn't about another story structure formula. It's about learning how to think through story development before writing the screenplay. Even experienced writers often find that this process helps them approach new ideas with greater clarity and confidence.

Ready to shape your next idea into a story you’re proud to write?

Every screenplay starts with a spark.

The difference between an idea that stays in a notebook and one that becomes a finished screenplay is having a reliable process for developing it.

Join me live and leave with a stronger story, greater confidence, and a process you'll use for every screenplay you write from here on out.
