LIVE WORKSHOP | NOVEMBER 15, 2026 | REPLAY INCLUDED
THE REWRITE ROADMAP
Creating a Strategic Plan for Your Next Draft
Learn how to assess your screenplay, identify what needs attention, and organize your next draft into a strategic plan before you start rewriting.
Just $27 through November 9.
You've finished a draft! Now what?
You know the screenplay needs work. Maybe you can sense that something isn't quite right, but you're not sure where to begin.
Should you work on the characters? The structure? The pacing? The scenes that aren't landing?
And how do you know which problems matter most?
One of the biggest mistakes writers make is jumping into a rewrite before they've taken the time to assess the draft. They start changing dialogue, rewriting scenes, or tinkering with individual moments, hoping those fixes will solve problems that may be much bigger.
The result? A lot of work, but not necessarily a better screenplay.
A productive rewrite starts before you write a single new page. It starts with understanding what you have, what you're trying to accomplish, and what needs to happen next.
What Youāll Learn
A four-phase approach to planning your next draft
In this workshop, I'll walk you through a practical process for approaching your next rewrite. We'll look at four phases:
1. Rest
Give yourself some time away from the draft. Learn why stepping back matters and how a little distance can help you return to the screenplay with a more objective perspective.
2. Analyze
Once you have fresh eyes, it's time to take a closer look at what you've written. We'll talk about how to assess what's working, what isn't, and where the screenplay is falling short of what you want it to be.
3. Prioritize
Not every issue deserves your attention at the same time. Learn how to organize the results of your analysis, identify the work that matters most, and turn a long list of potential fixes into a plan of action.
4. Revise
A rewrite is rarely one big, all-at-once undertaking. We'll look at how to approach your changes in a series of focused passes, so you can work through the screenplay one layer at a time.
By the end, you'll have a better understanding of how to approach your next draft strategically, rather than simply diving back in and hoping for the best.
Weāll put the process into practice.
We'll use an unproduced comedy screenplay as our shared example throughout the workshop. This gives us a shared point of reference and lets us see how the process works in practice.
You'll receive instructions for accessing the screenplay when you register. Before the workshop, I'd like you to read it from beginning to end.
That's it. No notes, no analysis, no homework. Just read the screenplay.
During the workshop, I'll walk you through how to approach the script using the four-phase process, so you can see how the different stages work in practice.
You'll also get the Rewrite Planner.
The Rewrite Planner is a workshop-only resource designed to help you put the four-phase process into practice.
Use it to think through the work ahead, organize your priorities, and keep track of the different passes you'll make as you move through your rewrite.
It's not available anywhere else, and you'll receive it as part of your workshop registration.
Give your next draft a plan.
If you've been staring at your screenplay wondering where to start, or if you've already begun rewriting but aren't sure you're working on the right things, this workshop will help you step back and think about the work ahead.
We'll use an example screenplay to walk through the process together, so you can see how each phase works and how the pieces fit together.
You don't need to bring a completed screenplay or prepare anything of your own. Just come ready to think about rewriting in a more intentional way.

Meet your host
Hi, Iām Naomi. I've worked with hundreds of screenwriters through the development, writing, and rewriting process. And one thing I've seen again and again is how easy it is to get overwhelmed by a draft when you don't have a plan for tackling it.
Writers often jump straight into making changes before they've really assessed what they're working with. They spend time fixing individual lines or scenes, only to discover that the underlying problem needs a much bigger solution.
I created The Rewrite Roadmap to help writers approach that next draft with more intention, and to show them how to break the rewriting process into manageable stages.
Because writing is rewriting. And knowing how to approach a rewrite is a big part of learning how to write a screenplay.

Common Questions
Do I need to have a completed screenplay to benefit from this workshop?
No. We'll be talking about the rewriting process overall, so you don't need to have a completed screenplay to participate.
Is this workshop appropriate for newer writers?
Yes! Newer writers will benefit from understanding what the rewrite process looks like. Writing is rewriting, after all. Many newer writers think the first draft is the biggest part of the process, but it often isn't. Rewriting can take much longer, sometimes across several drafts.
Will we be working on our screenplays during the workshop?
No. Instead, we'll apply the process to an example screenplay that everyone will have read in advance. This gives us a shared point of reference and lets us see how the process works in practice. It also gives us a chance to approach the script with greater objectivity, which is exactly what you'll want to do when you return to your own draft after some time away.
Is a replay included?
Yes. A replay will be available within 48 hours after the live workshop.
Don't start rewriting until you have a plan.
A rewrite shouldn't start with rewriting. It should start with understanding what you have, what's working, and what needs to change. Learn the four-phase approach that helps you plan your next draft before you start making revisions.
