Feel like your character introductions are missing something?
You know your characters are the heart of your story. But, if we’re being honest… sometimes their introductions get overlooked.
Maybe you’re:
Wingin’ it and hoping it works.
Rewriting the same intro for the 17th time.
Unsure what a “strong” intro even looks like.
The result? Introductions that feel flat, forgettable, or disconnected from the rest of the story — and readers who never quite click with your characters.
When done right, your major character intros instantly pull readers in, build emotional investment, and set the tone for everything that follows.
This 90-minute live workshop shows you how.

What you’ll learn
Inside Magnetic Character Intros, you’ll get a practical, repeatable process for writing introductions that grab attention and set up your story.
You’ll learn:
How to write a character intro that immediately builds emotional investment
How to signal your character’s arc from the first scene (without being heavy-handed)
Which characters need a magnetic introduction, and which ones don’t
A 2-part framework for intros that work on the page and on screen:
Character Description — the visual & internal snapshot that tells us who this character is
Character Entrance — the scene that shows us what they want, how they move through the world, and why we should care
Fixes for the most common mistakes (including what unfilmables are okay to include, and what’s off-limits)
Plus: You’ll get a Character Intro Checklist to use each time you need to brainstorm a character introduction — so you can stop guessing and start drafting with confidence.
Give me 90 minutes and you’ll walk away with a method for writing magnetic character intros — the kind that hook readers, spark emotion, and set the stage for the story to come.

Meet your instructor
Hi, I’m Naomi — a screenwriting teacher and story consultant with 10+ years of experience helping screenwriters, producers, and directors develop their projects.
I was formerly part of the development team at Maverick Films (Madonna + Guy Oseary’s production company), where I worked on projects like Twilight, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, and The Stanford Prison Experiment. I also collaborated with Blake Snyder on his second Save the Cat book and taught Save the Cat workshops in LA.
These days, I help writers get unstuck and build scripts they’re proud of. Through my consulting work and group workshops, I’ve read and analyzed thousands of scripts and helped hundreds of writers shape stronger stories.

What if I can’t attend live?
No problem. You’ll get access to the full replay so you can watch (and rewatch) on your own schedule.
Will I have to share my writing or be put on the spot?
Not at all. You can be as visible or invisible as you want during the live session. No breakout rooms. No pressure.
My intros are fine — do I really need this?
If you want your characters to not just appear on the page, but to stick in your reader’s mind and drive your story forward, this workshop will show you exactly how to do that.
Is this class only relevant to screenplays?
The tools you’ll learn in this class will help you craft intros that stand out and serve the story, whether you’re writing a feature film, a pilot, or even a short. You’ll leave the workshop with a clear, repeatable method you can apply to any story you write.
